Face the Future™ Foundation’s medical volunteers are renowned experts in their medical specialty and come from some of the leading universities and medical institutions in Canada, the United States, and Europe.

Our team includes facial plastic surgeons, plastic surgeons, pediatric surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, anaesthesiologists, and specialized nurses. Our medical volunteers donate their time and often pay their own expenses as well as donate equipment and supplies needed for the mission.

Kofi Boahene, MD, FACS

At Face the Future Foundation, we are saving and building lives. The impact is tremendous, both with the patients and the capacity building of the local healthcare professionals.

Dr. Kofi Boahene trained at the Mayo Clinic and is now Professor of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He specializes in removing major skull base tumours, which then often require microvascular reconstruction. He also reanimates paralyzed faces. Dr. Boahene is recognized as an international thought leader and innovative surgeon.

Face the Future™ Foundation has positively impacted the lives of children and their families and is helping them to confidently Face the Future.

Dr. Brissett specializes in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery in Houston, Texas. He is Professor, Institute of Academic Medicine at the Houston Methodist Hospital and Chief, Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has special expertise in nasal and ear reconstruction. Dr. Brissett is currently planning potential new missions in Africa and Ukraine. He is a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Marco F. Caminiti, BSc, DDS, MEd, Dip OMFS, FRCD(C), FACD

My experience in Ethiopia opened my eyes and mind to both the challenges and needs of these amazing people and to the opportunities and help we can provide.

Dr. Caminiti is an Assistant Professor, Head and Program Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) at the University of Toronto. He is Head of OMFS at Humber River Hospital and Surgical Director of the Cleft Lip Palate Program at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Additionally, he is a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, Dr. Caminiti is also the Mission Director for the Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Mission.

Jeremy D. Richmon, MD, FACS

An act of humanity and caring, whether as small as removing a disfiguring scar on a child’s face, or as massive as removing a huge tumour from a patient unable to speak, has rippling effects far beyond just that patient. This is a blessing that benefits the family, the community, the country, and indeed, all of us.

Dr. Jeremy Richmon is a fellowship-trained head and neck surgeon who specializes in head and neck cancer and microvascular reconstruction. His area of interest includes minimally invasive head and neck surgery including transoral robotic surgery and scarless thyroid surgery, in which he has been a pioneer in the United States. He is Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and is affiliated with the Massachusetts Eye and Ear and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Ife Sofola, MD, FACS

Face the Future Foundation missions exemplify the best way to build capacity and sustainability in healthcare in less developed countries.

Nigerian-born Dr. Sofola is a facial plastic surgeon who trained at Johns Hopkins and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He specializes in facial soft tissue reconstruction and is very active in humanitarian work. As a Mission Director, Dr. Sofola is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of Face the Future Foundation missions from the selection of participants to managing all aspects of patient selection, operating schedules and clinical care.

Jeremy Warner, MD, FACS

Mission Director: Kathmandu, Nepal

Having the skills we have, it is our obligation not only to care for people, but to teach foreign providers so they have the skills to sustain care of local patients.

Dr. Warner is a plastic surgeon who specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. Warner is the Mission Director for the Foundation’s Nepal mission, which focuses on facial and body reconstruction following burns as well as other facial plastic surgical reconstructions for congenital and traumatic conditions.
